2. SEAN MANN [$660] 1:49am by Dan Davis.  Heads up lasted less than five minutes.  There were several bad beats and lots of pre-flop play this tournament, so it’s only fitting that the final hand end with the second best cards taking it down and all the money in before the board was started.  Dan held a healthy chip lead, but Sean was the aggressor in the first few hands and took down the blinds repeatedly.  Dan, very painfully aware of this trend elected to calls Sean’s 5th all-in bet and turns over As7c and has to be disappointed to see Sean has a hand this time, 9s9d.  He’s only 29.5%. The flop comes Jh-Ts-3c, making it look like Sean’s going to double up.  6c on the turn doesn’t change that.  Ace of d’s on the river does though, and this first time entrant takes it down.
3. JOE MCCARTHY [$520] 1:45am, by Dan Davis. Getting a little short, Joe takes a flop with Qd2d against Dan’s AdAc.  The flop brings two diamonds and the money goes in.  Dan’s rockets are 58%.  The board ends up Td-Jc-8d-7h-3c, no flush for Joe – but a second cash in a row and an MVP award for bringing a great bottle of tequila.  Everyone should learn from Joe.  Seriously.
4. BRIAN BULMAN [$260] 1:30am, by Dan Davis.  Dan’s TdTs are in preflop against 8s9s and are 82%.  The tens hold up on a board of 2d-6c-7d 3s 4d.
5. COCO LORENZO [$140] 1:00am, by Brian Bulman.  Coco lost a huge hand and was down to $150 at the first break and came back big to finish in the money.  Chip and a chair is no joke!  She finally ran into the buzzsaw when she got it in pre-flop with her KdJd against Brian’s QdQc.  She’s 31.5%  Board offers no help 5c-Ah-7d-5c-.8h.
6. STEPHEN VENABLE  [$80]12:40am, by Joe McCarthy.  Venable suffered some rough beats and went from a chip leader to out in 6th in a flash.  His final hand was representative of that trend, a As9c against Joe’s Ad5d.  He’s dominating and will win 55% of the time and tie another 15%.  Joe pounds him in style when the board comes boat 5s-4c-4s-5c-4h but Joe has a slightly better one.
7. BECKER 12:32am, by Dan Davis. Becker pushed with 8c-8d and Dan looked him up with his JsJh.  Becker’s 8’s are 20% and he gets no help from a board of Qd-6h-2h-Ah-As.
8. BRYAN SEABURY12:29p, by Brian Bulman.  Bryan gets it in a little short, making a battle of the blinds move wtih 8s-9h. Brian, who limped in the SB with As6s looks him up and is 58%.  It holds up on a board of Ts-Ad-7c-Qs-Qc.
9. STEPHEN DUNNE 12:15p, by Joe McCarthy.  Party promoter extraordinaire Stephen Dunne finishes the best out of his Limo full of revelers but the party ends a little short of glory when his AcQc is in on the short stack at 65% against Joe’s JdTh.  Joe gets it in bad but comes out on top when the board brings a flush scare and a Jack: 3s-9c-Jc-6s-2h.

2. BOB BENNETT [$440] 1:55am by Joe McCarthy.  Fun see-saw action.  Heads up play begins with Joe having roughly a 2 to 1 chip lead (he’d been a huge stack throughout the final table). After about 20 minutes, the tables had turned though and Bob took a large chip lead.  They get it all in and both show a Queen, Bob has the better kicker and Joe’s is suited.  Bob’s 66% doesn’t hold up though, as Joe makes a flush to even the stacks.  Joe gets aggressive over the next several hands and takes a small chip lead. Then it happened again.  Joe pushes with QcTs, Bob autocalls with AsQh and is 72% with a 1.5% chance of a tie.  The board come 8c7c8s making Bob 80%.  The turn bricks a 4s making Bob 93% – he can taste a Threepeat.  But it was not to be as the river brought the Ten of Hearts, pairing Joe and adding him to the distinguished list of Boblagio champs!  We’re thrilled cause Joe always brings a nice bottle of wine and good humor so hopefully he’ll keep coming now that he has a title to defend!
3. PHIL HONG [$280] 1:34am, by Bob Bennett. With the blinds getting expensive, Bob and Phil get it in with KdJs(60%) vs. 6d5d (40%).  Phil’s faith in small suited connectors didn’t happen here though when the board came Ah8sQc 2c Ts.
4. HEIDI HALSEY [$80] 1:15am, by Joe McCarthy.  Heidi’s As6s is no match for Joe McCarthy’s AdJd (66% with 7% chance of tie) and the board comes JhKh9d 7c 6d giving Joe a pair of Jacks.
5. MASAO KITAMURA 1:00am, by Joe McCarthy.  Tough luck for Masao on the bubble.  He had to be happy getting it in against the big stack with AdQd.  Unfortunately, the gods did not look kindly on him and big stack McCarthy showed AcAh and is 87%.  It holds up on a board of 9h4hTh 7s5c.
6. JAY POTASHNICK 12:37am, by Heidi Halsey.  Big shout out to Jay for making his first final table!  It ended for him when he didn’t quite have enough for the small blind (after Phil crippled him with 67 suited for a flush over his JT) and was forced to play 4h6s.  Heidi makes the call with As9s and is 65%.  It holds up despite a scary flop of : 7s8h9d.  Turn and river bring Ah Qd.
7. GRANT THOMPSON 12:30am, by Joe McCarthy. Disappointing finish to a very well played night for Grant.  In a previous hand Grant was a big stack and pushed his AQ for top pair good kicker on board of A35 at fellow large stack Joe McCarthy.  Unfortunately, Joe Big Blind specialed 35 for two pair to take down the big pot, taking a huge bite out of Grant.  Joe finished him off with (if the notes are correct) 6c7c vs. JhTc that made a flush on a board of AcQs4c  7h Qc.
8. BARRY REYES 11:56p, by Grant Thompson.  Nice final table for previous money winner Barry Reyes.  He gets it in short stack with AcJc and is 61% against Grant’s 6s7s.  Grant runner-runners the flush for the win.
9. SAMANTHA BEDE, NELSON BAE 11:42p, by Bob Bennett.  Big hand.  Sam pushes on shortish stack with TT, Nelson thinks for a while then calls all-in with 66 and a smaller stack.  Action to Bob who finds KhQh and tanks trying to figure out if he should commit a large portion of his stack on a pot giving him 4 to 1 with this hand and this action.  He decides he likes the pot odds and wants to take a stab at winning the tourney.  Sam’s 42%, Bob 39%, Nelson 19% and there are small possibilities for chops.  Bob flops a K for the win.

MARK STAINER [$480] 1:20am by Bob Bennett.  Heads up play begins with Mark having roughly a 4 to 1 chip lead (Bob had been short all night).  After about 20 minutes though, the tables had turned and it was all over – here’s the final hand.  Bob, with a 3 to 1 chip lead calls Mark’s all in and shows As8c.  Mark turns over KdQc.  Bob’s 57%.  The board comes 10d5s7h 8h 6h, the Ace held up and it was all over for this Boblagio newcomer.
3. HEIDI HALSEY [$320] 1:00am, by Mark Stainer. Mark’s miracle 2-outer on a previous hand against Heidi left her short stacked, and it all ended for her when she got it in with Kh8s against Mark’s AcTh.  Mark’s 65% and it holds up on a board of Jc5cJh Ad 4s.
4. ANDREA SAVAGE [$100] 12:35am, by Heidi Halsey.  These two were going back and forth for a number of hands before Heidi flopped an A to pair her A4 against Andrea’s QdJd.  Heidi was 52% when the money went in.
5. GIULIO COSTANZO 12:24am by Andrea Savage.  Giulio gets into a race for his tourney life with black 6’s on the short stack against chip leader Andrea’s KdJc and is 53%. It doesn’t hold up though when the board of 4s5dAd Jd 3d gives Andrea the King-high flush.
6. JEREMY PLAGER 12:09am by Mark Stainer.  Jeremy’s K3 clubs goes in against Mark’s AcJd and is only 37%.  The turn makes it interesting when it comes 7d6d7c Qc, but the river was the 2h, ending the night for Jeremy.
7. GRANT THOMPSON 12:05am by Bob Bennett.  Bob raises in late position.  Grant in the BB wakes up with AK and re-raises all-in.  Bob auto calls with QQ is 57%.  No help comes for Grant, and he’s sent to the rail having played the hand perfectly well and run into a monster.
8. TIM HART 11:52am by Andrea Savage.  Andrea’s been the chip leader the entire tourney and is running over the table.  Tim had been quietly dwindling and waiting to pick a spot to push.  He thinks he’s found it when he looks down at AcTs and makes his move.  Andrea thinks for a moment and calls.  Jeremy is last to act, but folds.  Andrea turns over red rockets and is 91%.  As you might imagine, she takes the pot.  It’s no fun when you make your move and the SB wakes up with Aces.
9. MIKE EXNER 11:47 11:47am by Bob Bennett.  Mike in the cutoff seat puts in a single purple chip but doesn’t say anything so it’s ruled a call.  Bob, on the button finds TdTs and knows mike has a hand but can tell it’s not an amazing one so the trick is to figure out how to get the chips in preflop.  After taking some time he elects to push in.  Mike, at this point probably pretty sick of Bob pushing in elects to call with his KdQh.  The tens at 56% hold up and it’s all over for the first timer – a nice final table showing!

2. MASAO KITAMURA [$600] 2:00am by Bob Bennett.  Bob in the small blind has AsQd and limps, hoping to trap.  Masao on the button raises with Ah9c. Bob at 71%, 6% chance of tie re-raises big.  Masao thinks for a while then calls.  Flop comes KhKc6s making Bob 72% and a 17% chance of a tie.  Bob’s first to act and puts Masao all in.  The pot’s big, and winning this pot would be a huge advantage, but Masao has enough chips that he could let it go and maybe have enough to fight on. Tough decision and he goes in the tank.  He finally elects to call, the board finishes 5c2d and it’s all over.  Great showing for the first time Boblagio player. (though not that great since he knocked out the host’s wife.. ahem…) 😉
3. SEAN MANN [$400] 1:46am, by Bob Bennett. Sean is short stacked and with his 6h6c gets it in against Bob’s Ah8c for a race.  The flop pairs the board, making Sean happy – QsKhKc moving Sean up to 61%.  7c on the turn reduces Bob’s outs to the board pairing again or his two overs – and a 7h on the river finishes it when Bob’s Ace plays.
4. LORI BOSI [$80] 1:38am, by Bob Bennett.  Final 5 players agreed to pay 4th and 5th their money back, and Lori is one of the beneficiaries.  Lori on the short stack gets it in with Jh2c against Bob’s black 8’s which are 72% favorites.  Flop brings an 8 but also a J and we’re 98.5% to 2%.  8hJc5d.  5h on the turn makes things pretty final and Td on river finishes it.  Another final table for Lori.
5. ADAM MARTINEZ [$80] 1:25am by Sean Mann.  Sean pot commits himself against Martinez with his raise on Td8d, so when Martinez re-raises all in with AcQd Sean’s auto calling.  Martinez is 61%. Flop comes 5c5sTs2hJs giving Sean a mild upset.
6. TOM BECK 1:02am by Masao Kitamura.  Tom short stacked, and takes a beat when his big slick AcKc is upset by Masao’s Ad6h with a board of 6sAh5s Ts 8s.  Tom was 73%, plus a 5% chance at a tie when the money went in.  Such are the perils of being the short stack.
7. MARIS ALLEN 12:52am by Sean Mann.  Maris had been hanging around on the short stack for what seemed like a million years before finally meeting her fate.  She gets it in with a micro stack and 4d3h.  Sean in BB has to call for another few chips, and is surprised to see the shape his 4s5s is in – 46% with another 33% chance at a tie. Flop moves him way ahead: 5d6hTs, then finishes with ThQc.  A second straight final table for this one time champion.
8. AARON RESNICK 12:21am by Bob Bennett.  Resnick limps on button with 88, Bob limps in SB with 69, and Tom in BB checks.  Flop comes 976.  Bob checks his 2 pair.  Tom bets, Resnick calls, Bob over the top all in.  Tom thinks and folds.  Resnick thinks, thinks some more, decides maybe he’s committed, maybe the odds are good, maybe Bob’s full of it or on a straight draw, and elects to call.  No help comes..
9. JEREMY PLAGER 12:01am by Aaron Resnick.  Resnick (QJ), Bob (Kh6h) in BB, and Jeremy on short stack with K8 take a flop.  Resnick flops 2 pair.  Bob folds but Jeremy and Resnick get it in.

2. MIKE AZZOLINO [$380] 1ish am by Stephen Venable.  Azz gets his money in with AsKs against Venable’s Js7d preflop on a shortish stack.  He’s 68%.  Had to be happy about that until the board came 3s8cJh 7h 3h.  A great showing by this Boblagio first timer, and a long overdue win for Stephen who’s had several cashes and finally logged his first “W”.
3. BRYAN SEABURY [$260] 12:32a.  Seabury short stack on button all in with 8s7h.  Azzolino in SB wakes up with AQ and auto calls.  He’s 62%.  A on flop and my notes say “and Seabury completes his pants shitting”, which I guess was because he showed up to the final table as chip leader.
4. MARIS ALLEN VENABLE [$80] 12:23a.  the players voted to give 4th place their money back, and Maris was the one to benefit.  She got it in with 22 and her own husband knocked her out when his K3 caught a 3 on the flop.  The 2’s were about 54%.  Hope winning was worth it Stephen…
5. CHRIS DIEGELMAN 12:01a.  Got it in with Stephen V with Kx against Sven’s A7.  Flop missed both hands, the A held up.

7. HEIDI HALSEY 11:59p.  Interesting hand and a turning point for whoever wins it:  Both Heidi and Charles where knocked out on the same hand by Stephen Venable.  Charles had 77 (31%), Heidi JsTs (34%) and Sven AcKh (35%).  Essentially a multi way coin toss if that makes sense.  Flop comes 8hAdQh making Sven top pair and Heidi open ended, Sven is now 64%.  Kc on the turn improves both but Heidi is now 90% with her straight.  Miracle A on the river turns the tides again making Sven full.  BE SURE TO LOOK THROUGH THE PICTURES ON THE LINK ABOVE.  There’s a gem in there of this hand and the reactions of the players involved.
8. BOB BENNETT 11:33p.  Sven all in on button with QQ.  Bob in SB on short stack calls with AhTh.  Q’s hold up as the board bricks.
9. LORI BOSI 11:07p.  Maris won with flair when her 75 beat Lori’s 44 on a board of 555AA.

17) Nelson Bae.  8:41p With an A on the board, Nelson senses weakness in Mike Azzolino and came over the top for all his chips.  Azz went in the tank, which is natural when there’s a big pot, you’re holding pocket kings, and there’s an A on the board.  He ultimately calls Nelson’s bluff, and takes down a big one.

2) STEPHEN VENBABLE [$700] 1:32am by Heidi Halsey.  Heidi 6c5c, Stephen QdTd.  On flop of 7c6d4c, Venable led out with his two overs.  Heidi, at 84% comes over the top for all his chips with middle pair and a flush out.  Venable decides he’s priced in and calls.  Turn 5h, River 7s and it was all over.

3) MARSHALL GITTER [$460] 1:24a by Heidi.  Heidi pushes with 77.  Marshall asks what time it is, says he needs to go check on his dog and calls with 10c7c.  Heidi’s about 62%, and the flop brings a third 7 for good measure.

4) BARRY REYES [$80]1:18a by Stephen Venable. Barry has Ts9s on the short stack and calls Sven’s KQ.  Sven is 61%.  Board made it interesting, Sven made a boat over Barry’s straight.

5) ANDREA SAVAGE 12:50a by Stephen Venable.  My drunken notes are little help here, but from what I can tell, Sven had Kh5s.  Andrea, hoping to avoid getting bubbled, asked for a 5, and unfortunately got what she asked for when the 5 came on the turn giving Sven a pair to win the pot.  Another strong showing by Andrea.

6) RUBEN VOLTA by Heidi at 12:47a.  Ruben’s stack can last two and a half orbits, so he pushes on the button with Kc4c.  Heidi in bb wakes up with AJ, sees Ruben’s predicament and knows he’s likely weak so she calls.  J on the river for good measure.

7,8) ROBERT SHERMAN AND SEAN SPECTOR by Heidi.  12:42a.  Sean pushes with A7 (19%).  Heidi with AJ (22%) sizes up the situation and correctly calls.  Robert Sherman looks down to find AK (55%) and elects to call.  There’s a 5% chance for a tie, but Robert’s way out ahead and has to be happy.  J comes on the flop though, and Heidi takes down a big pot.

BOB BENNETT [$400] 1:44 by Nelson.  Interesting hand.  Bob on the button all-in short stack with 3,200 in chips and blinds at 300-600 with Ac7c.  Nelson calls with 4c4d.  Jackie looks down and sees JJ and goes into the tank for a long while.  Bob is 27%, Nelson 17% and Jackie 56%.  Jax finally elects to fold (which most would agree was probably the right thing to do in that spot), and the board comes JhJsKs 4h7d.  Would’ve been a glorious finish, the best ever, had Jackie called and knocked out the other two with flopped quads.  Instead, Nelson bumped Bob when his fours (at 52%) held up.
4. HEIDI HALSEY [$100]1:10a by “good friend” Jackie Burka.  Heidi all in with 88, Jax calls with AK off.  Board brought two K’s, and Heidi was done.

FINAL TABLE:

1. DAN MACHOCK [$720] 1:31am – Strong, aggressive play drives Dan to his first Boblagio championship.  Our editors have decided to give Dan a little shit here because he doled out some pretty bad beats along the way too, so let’s walk through a couple: Dan won a huge pot with all the money in preflop when his AK sucked out on Venable’s pocket aces (an 87% favorite) with running T and J to catch the straight.  He also knocked out Heidi, who put her money in when she flopped trip Kings, by calling with a flush draw that was only 25%.  Very bad form to take out the hostess like that. 😉
2. NELSON BAE [$480] 1:31am –   Final hand: Nelson pushes his smaller stack in with 2s3h against Dan’s 6h5s on a flop of 7d5h2h.  Very courageous call by Dan with second pair (or maybe not, Nelson was playing damn aggressive), turn and river are Qs5c, Nelson’s bottom pair doesn’t improve and it’s all over.
3. MARIS ALLEN [$320]  2:15am.  Maris pushes preflop at the wrong time when her KcTc run into Dan’s rockets AcAh.  Dan is 83.5% here.  Board of 4c7c7d 4s Qd doesn’t help her, and this former champ finishes in the money for the second time.
4. MARSHAL GITTER  [$80] 1:05am.  Marshall gets the benefit of a deal when the final four agreed to give 4th their money back.  Amusingly, Nelson – who in a previous Boblagio was chip leader with 4 left and vetoed the deal but then finished empty handed in 4th was very vocal about approving the deal this time.  Marshall was playing great but had just taken a very bad beat from Maris and was crippled (so unlikely, only one person, her husband, noticed that Maris had actually won).  Marshall went out with KcJs against Dan’s AsQh when the board came Th7h4s Ad6c.
5. GIULIO COSTANZO 12:16am.  Nelson and Giulio take a flop with Giulio as a 70% favorite with AdQc against Nelson’s Ah3s.  Giulio went all in on the flop on a board of 2c2s5s with a 52% chance of winning and a 17% chance of a tie.  Nelson makes a very tough call holding just Ace high with an inside straight draw or running cards for a 3-high flush.  9c on the turn makes Giulio 70% to win and another 14% to tie, but the miracle 4d gives Nelson an inside straight and Giulio is done.  Second final table in a row for the kid with the funny glasses.
6. JULIE FELDMAN 12:16am.  In only her second Boblagio, Julie matches her 6th place finish.  Everyone mucked the cards so I have no idea how she went out but another strong finish for this second timer.
7. IAN SIEGEL 11:51am.  Nelson and Ian go in preflop with Ian’s Ah7c against Nelson’s AdJs.  Nelson is 68% plus 8% to tie and it holds.

KARIM NOURI [$380]  2:15am.  Karim is all in preflop with QcTs, called by Giulio’s AcQs.  Giulio inexplicably took forever to call here, and Ruben commented after the tournament, “That’s when I knew I was going to win”.  Giulio’s 73%.  Flop brings 8sAs4d.  Giulio is now 97%. Turn 5s, River 4c, and Karim’s tourney is over.
4. JOE MCCARTHY  [$80] 2:00am.  Joe’s all in pre flop with QhJc.  Karim calls with Ah8s.  Karim is 57%.  Board comes 7c5d2h 8s 9c.  Joe gets the benefit of the deal agreed to pay 4th their money back.

DAVID ROVIN 1:50am.  David’s short stack all-in with 8s4h against Giulio’s 8d9d.  Giulio is 70%.  Board comes QcQd4d  David has made a pair, but Giulio caught 2 diamonds.  They each have a 48% chance of winning, a slight chance at a tie.  Turn is a brick,2h, making David 68%.  River brings the pain: 6d to make Giulio’s flush.  David makes another final table, but once again is turned away just short of the money.
